"Another Big Fish
Story," #27 Swapping
Stories
Lonnie Gray: I heard another one about a big fish, a gar. You know what a gar is. They can get big. Well, a fellow caught one in a net, got him out and put him in the wagon, brought him home. The scales were big things. They scaled that gar, and they used the scales for shingles and covered a four-room house.
Notes to the Teacher: X1301.5*.(ha). Scales of big fish are used for shingles, provide new roof. Randolph (1951, 207) offers a version from Arkansas. |
